Clinical Support Worker Aprenticeship

What you’ll do at work

*To provide a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of patients with supervision and support from senior colleagues.

*Assisting with carrying out additional clinical care duties upon successful completion of relevant competency assessment

*Prepare each individuals environment, equipment and materials appropriately for clinical setting.

*Assist the registered nurse in the collection of specimens and where required and prepare for, undertake, and record treatment as delegated e.g.. stool, urine, sputum, and wound swab.

*Assist healthcare professionals in carrying out clinical procedures and work in a way that minimises risks to health, safety, and security.

*Assist the registered nurse by accurate recording of clinical observations and data relating to patients care, ensuring any concerns are discussed with the senior colleagues

*Report any issues at work that may put health, safety, and security at risk.

*Identify clinical changes in patients and escalate / seek timely advice from senior colleagues whenever necessary

*Work within the limits of own competence and responsibility and refers issues beyond these limits to relevant people.

*Undertake the delegated task/assessments correctly, effectively, to time and report back on those aspects of assessments.

*Contribute to the development of own knowledge and skills.

*Move patients, machinery, and goods in accordance with East & North Herts NHS Trust policies and procedures, whilst identifying and minimising the risks involved. and take and record observations as requested, i.e. temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen situations and blood pressure, and to report any abnormalities to the registered nurse. Recording of ECGs.

*Take an active part in agreed learning activities and keeps a record of them.

*Involve patients and carers /relatives in shared decision making and provide reassurance and support to patients and carers /family.
